The coaches, led by Head Coach Kyle Bennett prepare the girls to be strong independent young women. They are getting their players ready to be able to start as a freshman on their high school varsity teams, and with the organizations connection and strong alumni support; the Texas Travelers girls have been able to attract the attention of some of the top softball programs in the country. Bennett has coached softball for the last 9 years and has taken the Texas Travelers to Nationals every year finishing 3rd in the prestigious ASA National Championship in 2015 and 2017. In addition the Travelers finished 5th in the World Fastpitch Championship in Kansas for 2017. Recently, the Travelers have already earned their berth to the 2018 World Fastpitch Championships by winning the DFW National Qualifying event in the Fall. The top North Texas Softball Team will be competing in the Colorado Sparkler Power Pool as well as PGF Premier Division to showcase their talents among the best in the country. Coach Bennett has a strong talent to work with as his team is already being heavily recruited by some of the top college teams in the country like Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Duke and many more. The 2018 team has been ranked by Extra Innings Softball as the #22 14U team in the country.
James Schaefer is the pitching/catching coach for the Texas Travelers. Schaefer has coached at the national level for select youth football, basketball and softball winning multiple national championship in each sport. He is the COO and Founder of DeliveryMaxx and is in charge of marketing and recruiting for the Texas Travelers. Schaefer is responsible for helping put the Travelers on the map at a National Level. In addition to the Travelers strong play, the team is being recognized across the United States from many news organizations. His pitching staff is one of the top in the country producing Two USA All-American Pitchers as well as an All-American and USSSA Elite Select 30 at catcher. The staff rarely gives up runs with an ERA and WHIP of less than 1.
Rico McClarity is a Base Coach and OF Coach for the Texas Travelers. He brings a level of intensity to the team drawing from his collegiate football and baseball experience at Ouachita Baptist University (1996-1998) where he was a 3 time player of the week, made all conference selection 3 years in a row leading the team in rushing all 4 years. He was also the team captain his junior and senior season. He also played CF in 1998. McClarity has coached softball for the last 6 years at a national level in Arkansas and Texas.
Kenny Graf is the Assistant Head Coach for the Travelers and is known as a winning coach having coached select softball teams to multiple championships. He understands how to get the most out of players and help the girls achieve success. Graf is the director of player personnel for the Travelers and continuously finds the right players to create a cohesive group on the field. Since joining the Texas Travelers, the defense averages a double-play a game as well as run production has increased to 6.78 a game.
