Texas Travelers Coaches

James Schaefer was the pitching/catching coach for the Texas Travelers Gold Team before moving to the permanent role of marketing/recruiting for the Texas Travelers organization.  Schaefer has coached at the national level for select youth football, basketball and softball winning multiple national championship in each sport.  He is the COO and Founder of DeliveryMaxx and is in charge of marketing and recruiting for the Texas Travelers.  Schaefer is responsible for helping put the Travelers on the map at a National Level.  In addition to the Travelers strong play, the team is being recognized across the United States from many news organizations.  His pitching staff was one of the top in the country producing Two USA All-American Pitchers as well as an All-American and USSSA Elite Select 30 at catcher.  The staff  rarely gave up runs with an overall ERA and WHIP of less than 1.

 

In addition to running multiple companies and helping his clients gain maximum exposure on the internet; James enjoys watching his kids activities.  He currently has a son who plays middle linebacker at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a daughter who verbally committed to Oklahoma State University as an 8th grader as well as 2 Varsity Sport Athlete in High School.  He is married to Vicki Schaefer. 

Kayla Crutchmer is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and was an outfielder for Central Arkansas Bears.  She comes to the Texas Travelers with a wealth of knowledge about softball, but also will be instrumental in helping young girls play the game right.

She produced one of the best seasons in UCA history earning her first academic all-conference accolade.  She led the NCAA with 31 stolen bases and 115 stolen bases for the season.  She broke the UCA record for career stolen bases when she reached the tall of 102 and tied the single-game record with four stolen bases.  She led the team with a .410 batting average and finished 3rd in the SLC.  Crutchmer finished the year with 34 hits which was ranked 27 in the NCAA and 2nd in the Southland Conference.  She graduated with a degree in education and notched a 3.12 GPA.

Taneshia Burgess joined the Texas Travelers Softball program with a wealth of experience.  Currently she is the softball coach for Dallas Christian Private School and General Manager for D-BAT in Mesquite, Texas.

Coach Burgess is a former collegiate athlete where she played softball and basketball at Coahoma Community College and finished at Lane College.  Coaching is not new to Burgess as she has been coaching Club softball for 5 years and has more than 8 years of coaching experience.  Taneshia earned her Associate degree in Physical Education/Coaching.  Coaching softball and basketball have always been a passion for Taneshia.  She spends most of her weekends and evenings on a softball field doing what she loves.  Taneshia strongly believes in giving back the knowledge that was once given to her.  She was born and raised in the small town of Magee, Mississippi but now makes her home in Mesquite, Texas.

Brittany Thomas will be coaching with the Texas Travelers younger teams.  She was recruited from North Mesquite High School where she was a pitcher and played 1B for the Stallions.  Currently, she is a sophomore for Grayson College where she is batting .288 with 15 hits and 10 RBI's in 21 games played.
